Watches and cars are perfect partners
Watches, cars, engines, races… More than a century, two industries share the same passion for design, technology and racing tradition. We’ve gathered the five watches for car enthusiasts.
A bold master sleight of high tech and avantgarde design inspired by the automotive world, the 45-mm diameter Excalibur Huracán timepiece offers the same blend of performance, lightness, and security as its namesake supercar. The skeleton automatic RD630 calibre features a 12° angled balance wheel representing the movement signature associated with Lamborghini Squadra Corse, while the 360° oscillating weight inspired by the rim of the Huracán supercar reproducing the same kind of speed effect as a supercar wheel; and the upper calibre features a strut-bar design bridge reminiscent of those found on the V10 engine of the Lamborghini Huracán supercar itself. Completing the Roger Dubuis line-up, a red-hot 88-piece limited edition of the Excalibur Pirelli Automatic Skeleton timepiece – notably featuring a strap with rubber inlays from certified race-winning Pirelli tyres, as well as tread motifs exactly like those of the Pirelli CinturatoT intermediate tyre – is also being introduced on this occasion.
Hublot presents an elegant and contemporary piece that draws inspiration from the ‘Gran Turismo’ universe. The launch of the Classic Fusion Ferrari GT watch – with its extremely innovative design which integrates the new UNICO manufacture movement in a body with distinctive and dynamic lines – sees Hublot and Ferrari write a new chapter in their collaboration. Its design is very contemporary; Hublot worked on the motor and Ferrari on the body. One of the main design features of the Classic Fusion Ferrari GT is the case, conceived as a true concentrical suspended element that enhances the dial presence and the sophisticated manufacturing making process. For this purpose, the ‘Centro Stile Ferrari’ designers applied their expertise, building bridges between automotive design and watchmaking motorisation, and thereby proving that they love to work and surpass themselves on other projects than those linked to cars.
Rolex is unveiling a precious, mysterious and sparkling 18 ct yellow gold version of the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona, the iconic watch for those with a passion for driving and speed. Like the 18 ct Everose gold version released in 2018, whose bezel is adorned with sapphires in rainbow colours, this new version offers a unique take on the celebrated racing chronograph. The emblematic tachymetric scale is replaced with 36 trapeze-cut diamonds. On the paved black lacquer dial, champagne-colour chrono graph counters are intertwined with black lacquer and diamonds. Completing the dial with elegance are hour markers in the form of eight diamonds in 18 ct yellow gold settings, and Arabic numerals 15, 30 and 45, also in 18 ct yellow gold, set at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock respectively. Like all Rolex watches, the new Cosmograph Daytona carries the Superlative Chronometer certification, which ensures excellent performance on the wrist.

Chopard’s tribute to the 100th anniversary of its racing partner and friend, the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Zagato 100th Anniversary Edition watch in a 100-piece limited edition. This Anniversary Edition would obviously be a Mille Miglia watch, belonging to the Classic Chronograph collection initiated in 2017 and bearing the codes of a racing model, in the spirit of this classic car rally cherished by both Maisons. This 42 mm steel-clad piece exudes a deliberately vintage spirit, with curves inspired by irresistible oldtimers. The mechanics are impeccable, with reliability and precision guaranteed by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). Particular attention was paid to the details composing the style of the piece, starting with a dial with a motif resembling the Z for Zagato in a magnificent lacquered red, a favourite hue of both the Milan-based designer and the Mille Miglia.
