Ever since it was established hotel Park belongs to the most prestigious place for all social and political events in the city of Split and broader region and followed by a complete redecoration the hotel becomes leader of the luxury tourism in the region
Hotel Park symbolizes the oldest and the most favourable hotel of the Split crowd and its guests. Ideal location, next to the prominent Bačvice beach with the Diocletian palace close at hand, owing to its beauty and historical happenings, it has been declared as a cultural heritage monument. The main advantage of the hotel, apart from the vicinity of the heart of the old town, is the tradition since 1921. Its charm, significance and prestige have awarded the hotel with title of meeting point of businessmen, influential people and domestic townsmen.
During the WW II it served as a site where important historical decisions were reached, as well as the decisions regarding Split development and Croatian independence. Hotel accommodated numerous world statesmen, actors, singers and sportsmen. Local clubs Rotary and Lions meet here on a regular basis. Regardless whether you are a club member or a ‘big shot’, often you will be addressed to with your name. This place cherishes business intimacy and individual approach towards the clients. The trademark of this hotel is personalization resulting with a long list of regular guests. The hotel staff recognizes its clients and their requests even before expressing these, making their stay a pleasant hotel experience they always come back to. Last time hotel was renovated in the beginning of the 21 century when it was re-categorized to a 4 star hotel.
Modern design followed this year. After the entire redecoration orchestrated by architect Emil Šverko, hotel features 72 rooms, consisting of six suits and nine luxurious rooms on two floors. The hotel has a new roof and an additional floor, and the west facade has been annexed. The reconstruction process respected the original scheme of the old hotel building. The most distinguished hotel part is definitely its brilliant terrace. Sizeweise it has remained true to the original one, only one side features glass winter garden resulting in the first floor balconies.
One part of the restaurant has been enlarged, influencing the bar with an extra room – smokers zone. One hundred years old palm trees, symbol of the hotel Park, have been conserved, and accompanied by newly planted magnolias create a splendid ambience. The opposite side of the terrace is adorned with outdoor swimming pool delivering a soul indulging open-air breakfast interwoven with momentous Mediterranean plants fragrance. The parking lot ‘hides’ a garage underneath. Hotel offers also spa centre facilities. The redecoration revolution has also touched the congress halls in the manner of being expanded and adjusted to the latest trends of business and congress tourism.
The entire hotel concept faces a thorough change; congress halls can be divided into two parts enjoying enough natural light with capacity of 250 people, an extra street entrance and terrace exit allowing banquet or conference participants direct way out. Meritorious are long-term experienced personnel and hotel managers keeping the focus on practical solutions and functionality highly appreciated by the guests. Dust allergic guests’ suggestions have been taken into consideration meaning some rooms feature parquet flooring, and most of the rooms furnish a bathtub along with the shower. Business guests can enjoy ‘their’ two-floor rooms – working quarters downstairs and sleeping residence upstairs – equipped with ports for laptop, printer, scanner, etc. Wi-Fi is available around the entire hotel.
Each room has at disposal iron, umbrella, coffee and tea machine and pillow menu (choice between feathers, anatomic or buckwheat stuffing). Interior design is a special story. Anita Udvardy, interior designer, used colours matching the hypnotic sea landscape viewed from the hotel presenting also its trademark. The hues of turquoise blue to sand colours inspired by the picturesque image stretching from hotel over to Brač and Split sea gate emblazon the hotel. The carpet awakens sense of being at the beach as waves dance on the sea surface and dark wood furniture inhales an extra note of nature. Ambience is abundant with light and clear lines. The fourth floor of the newly constructed parts offers to-die-for view across Marjan. The main hotel entrance and bar & lounge are more spacious and located on the west side next to the reception desk. We were impressed by the glass installation with 24-carat gold at the reception desk – display of the sea withdrawing from the hotel.
Restaurant Split has undergone changes, though still serving the traditional Dalmatian food prepared according to old recipes cherished by the generations and presented in a modern manner. Despite the modern outline hotel has remained faithful to its tradition and ambience. Re-categorization brings new evaluation level climbing up from 4 to 5 star hotel. The renovation investment reached 10 million euro, and one third of the money was supported by EU funds. This is the first European project of that type in Croatia with the highest approved amount. Side by side with Kempinski in Portorož on the north Adriatic and Regent Porto Montenegro, hotel Park has earned the title of the luxury tourism leader on this part of the coast. The spot where history of Split was written, holds on today to reliability and loyalty as its characteristics.
