ISS Yachts: Try in Croatia a breakthrough solution in the charter industry

The ISS Yachts team will demonstrate the operation of the system live on a boat in chosen marinas in Croatia. That way industry professionals will be able to witness what powerful tool is at their hands reach. ISS Yachts team will be available for 4 days, i.e. September 21, 22 in Trogir and 24, 25 in Biograd na Moru. Each of these days, at 12:00, all interested parties will also be able to participate in an open product demonstration. To keep in line with the highest safety standards, the organizer asks for prior declaration of participation in the meetings, using the website

Meet the novelty on the market – the ISS Yachts solution, which eliminates the problem of laborious and time-consuming manual inventory of chartered yacht equipment. This smart inventory system automates and shortens the yacht return process, which is a big advantage over the competition between yacht rental companies. Its functionality is perfect in other areas of business management in the industry as well.

ISS Yachts is a solution developed by ISS RFID, a startup from the city of Gdynia (Poland), within a project funded by European Union funds and implemented at the National Center for Research and Development. The system is based on RFID technology, radio recognition of objects equipped in so-called tags. These items send their status data to the reader, thus enabling real-time inventory without physical presence.

ISS Yachts saves time

This novelty is the answer to the problem of laborious and long-lasting manual inventory of chartered yacht equipment. Shortening this process to even a few minutes can satisfy customers looking for a quick and easy way to return a boat. The system, by automating the process, also allows for a reduction in the amount of work and minimizes errors caused by the human factor.

Also, many benefits are provided by the improved way of managing assets and controlling expensive vessel equipment. The implementation of such a system is useful when wintering yachts or when keeping records of spare parts.

‘Our novelty, the ISS Yachts system, is first and foremost a proposal for companies engaged in yacht charter, for which saving time related to returning the vessel is crucial in business. We suggest that interested parties test the system, so that they can see for themselves how to optimize work in the company’, explained Mihal Ginter, Product Development Engineer from ISS RFID.

ISS Yachts can also be applied in units, which sail in the Baltic Sea, the Mediterranean, the Seychelles and the Caribbean waters. Numerous information were collected after lengthy tests on the efficiency of the equipment and the functionality of the software in demanding weather conditions, at different levels of water salinity.

Easy to operate system

The ISS system is easy to operate and consists of three parts: an RFID tag system, a mobile reader and a web application. Tags are self-adhesive labels, adapted to different surfaces, different weather conditions, including humid environment and salinity. They are placed on various elements of yacht equipment. A mobile reader (scanner) is a waterproof multipurpose device.

The software consists of a web application, which enables the management of a database with equipment elements, with division into units and locations, and an application for the Android system, which is installed on a special mobile reader.

Thanks to the excellent cooperation with the Euronautic team, in July and August this year, ISS Yachts has been upgraded and fine-tuned on a Bavaria 38 yacht, where 104 various items were marked. For the Croatian company, this is the end of the tedious, manual inventory, and the process, which so far lasted more than 30 minutes, has been shortened to less than 2 minutes.

More information about the system can be found here and on LinkedIn here.
