Ferretti Yachts 670 Review: Elegant Design and Bold Innovation

4 minutes

The latest version of the popular Ferretti Yachts 670 – one of the most popular models of her maker – debuted in Cannes. We took it out for a ride with lots of expectations, but also lots of joy, knowing how great her predecessor was

The new Ferretti Yachts 670 keeps everything everyone loved about her predecessor, adding interesting new features that will surely set her apart.

Refined Flybridge and Exterior Design on the Ferretti Yachts 670

Her exterior lines are elegant and clean, with large side windows and a hard top on the fly bridge. The hard top has a skylight, which allows natural light to seep inside and creates greater visibility. The flybridge layout has been redesigned, with the command console starboard and a sofa plus table combo port. The table seats ten comfortably, and can be flanked by a bar, grill and fridge unit.

Upper deck

The command console is dominated by two multi-function Simrad screens and served by two excellently designed seats enjoying perfect visibility in maneuvering. The model has two sun pads, one aft and on the bow, both protected from wind and fit to use in navigation. Aft, the large hydraulic platform can house a tender up to 4.3 meters.

The biggest change in comparison to the old model happened inside – the interior is spacier and lighter. The main deck is divided into three areas on two levels; the salon, the diner and the galley, and the command post. Ferretti did their absolute best here, choosing the best of everything in terms of fabrics, materials and details.

The galley offers more storage, including a wine cabinet, and the dining table is larger and served by an additional seat. The command post is starboard, and enjoys excellent visibility. Three Garmin screens are large enough for every feature, while Zipwake and Seakeeper commands allow smooth sailing in almost all conditions.

Spacious and light cabins

On the main deck, the bow serves as a secondary cockpit, with a sofa ideal for sipping cocktails and enjoying the sunset. Compared to the version on the predecessor, this space is larger, as Ferretti concluded owners spend most of their time on the bow at anchor or in the marina. This space can be reached by wide and safe side passages, safe enough to use in navigation.

The unit we tested had three cabins and three heads, plus the skipper’s cabin. The model is also available with four cabins and four heads. The master cabin is placed centrally and is full-beam, with a large queen-size bed and a wardrobe worthy of a much larger yacht. Large hull windows allow the eye to roam across the sea from the bed, or the sofa.

The master cabin has a small office space enjoying lots of privacy, and the cabins – as well as all other living spaces aboard – is well isolated, quiet even in navigation. The VIP cabin also has a queen-size bed and a private head, and is in the bow, while the double guest cabin and its head are starboard.

All cabins are spacious and light, courtesy of those large windows, enjoying panoramic view of the surroundings and with adequate height to please even taller guests.

Performance Highlights of the Ferretti Yachts 670

The model is powered by two 1000-hp MAN engines (standard), but the unit we tested in Cannes was equipped with 1200-hp engines. We reached the top speed of 32 knots at 2350 rpm, and with fuel consumption of 245 liters per engine. While cruising at 24.4 knots (cruising speed), fuel consumption dropped to 180 liters per engine, ad we went from 0 to 32 knots in 35 seconds, which tells you everything you really need to know.

The unit was extremely calm both at low speed and at maximum rpm, with no spritz spoiling our fun in turns or on waves. The engine room hasn’t changed much from the previous version of this model and is still accessible via the hatch in the cockpit or through the skipper’s cabin. This cabin is engine room-adjacent, has one bed and a private head.

For now, Ferretti offer the model in two versions, classic (like the unit we tested) and modern, with lighter wood and fabrics. All in all, we love the new Ferretti 670. It’s an elegant, stylish and innovative yacht with unexpected details which all makes her not only fresh, but also very appealing standing next to any of her competitors.
