There is a story behind each and every model name of the popular French catamaran manufacturer Fountaine Pajot, and their current largest model, Thíra 80, an almost 24-meter-long sailing catamaran, was named after the Greek island of Thíra, which most people know by the name of Santorini

A Shared Spirit of Freedom

The Fountaine Pajot Thíra 80 takes its name from an island over one hundred nautical miles away from the Greek coast, chosen for the shared spirit of freedom between the island and the catamaran—a vessel built for roaming the open seas. Its 2023 debut has captivated the yachting world, with the third unit displayed at this year’s Cannes show. Initially private yachts, all three units now serve as crewed charters, reflecting their broad appeal.

Imposing Exterior Design

From the outside, the Fountaine Pajot Thíra 80 strikes an imposing figure. Its tall hull and superstructure, large two-piece windshield, and trapezoidal side windows give it a commanding presence. The expansive flybridge, protected by a robust hard top, adds to its stature and functionality. Designed for oceanic ventures, the Thíra 80 belongs to the A registry class, embodying the energy and capability of a serious catamaran.

Innovative Stern Platforms

The Thíra 80’s stern is a marvel of engineering. Spacious inbuilt platforms flank a tender platform capable of handling 1.5 tons. This platform can be raised, lowered, or aligned flush with the stern platforms, providing versatility and space that rivals even megayachts.

The aft main deck features a sun deck and an innovative protected passage for convenient boarding. The aft section is outfitted with three comfortable sofas, a dining table for six, and a coffee table, making it an intimate space for relaxation. The semi-circular stairs lead to the flybridge, equipped with luxurious seating, a bar, and an advanced helm station. Navigation is simplified with electric winches and strategically placed sail ropes, ensuring ease of operation even with minimal crew.

The Thíra 80 introduces folding side terraces, adding to the overall spaciousness and flexibility. These terraces, combined with winged flybridge elements that can support solar panels, enhance both utility and aesthetics. At the bow, a hard deck spans the space between the hulls, accommodating deckchairs, a jacuzzi, and additional seating areas, all without compromising stability.

Luxurious Salon and Galley

Inside, the salon is a bright, open space with 360-degree views, thanks to large windows and minimal obstructions. A central column supports the mast, flanked by a sofa, dining tables, and a navigation station. The galley, separated by a long kitchen island, allows hosts to engage with guests while preparing meals, creating a convivial and functional environment.

Below deck, Fountaine Pajot Thíra 80 offers five guest cabins in the Maestro version. The master suite is a standout feature, occupying nearly half the starboard hull and boasting a jacuzzi tub, shower cabin/sauna, and luxurious furnishings. Other cabins, including the VIP, maintain a high standard of space and comfort. Additional layout options cater to different preferences, with up to seven guest cabins and configurations that relocate the galley to the hull.
