On Board Nixie: Lürssen’s Sculpted 102m Superyacht

Lürssen is marking a record year for new construction, and the 102.4-metre NIXIE, previously known as Project JASSJ, is at the centre of it as the yard's sixth delivery of 2026. The motor yacht stepped into the spotlight for her global debut at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Designed by RWD, NIXIE follows a fluid, organic philosophy. Her exterior is sculpted in gentle undulations, deep contours and broad convex forms that carry light across the surface, giving the superstructure the sense of dissolving into itself. Hull and superstructure are finished in a bespoke warm grey, light-responsive and subtly pearlescent.

The structural glazing follows the same logic. Each pane is uniquely shaped and gradient-tinted, so the line between glass and steel nearly disappears. The result is a powerful, composed exterior, and an unusually light, open character for a yacht of this scale. As with every Lürssen yacht, engineering and naval architecture were handled entirely in-house.

Lürssen's collaboration with RWD demanded a high level of coordination across design, engineering and procurement, with the team approaching each challenge with clarity, creativity and a strong focus on workable solutions.

One of her signature features is a semi-suspended, six-metre-wide glass swimming pool set aft on the main deck. Conceived as an architectural space rather than a standalone amenity, it extends over the swim platform, linking yacht and sea. A privacy screen and adjustable water levels make the pool usable across generations.

Below it sits a beach club and fitness area, with a gym and cryochamber, taking up much of the lower deck. Four large sea terraces and the transom hatch sit flush with the Indian teak, creating 270 square metres of liveable space, one of the largest beach clubs built on a Lürssen to date, expansive yet serene. Stonework and rich woods run throughout, and every furnishing and fixture is a bespoke artisanal piece, sourced by RWD from around the world.

From the outset, the ambition behind the project was for every detail, inside and out, to be intentional, a principle that shaped the design through to completion.

Beneath her sculpted architecture runs a diesel-electric propulsion system, backed by an advanced energy storage system, enabling efficient operation across a wide range of cruising profiles, with reduced noise and vibration for a higher level of onboard comfort.
