Oceanco Delivered the 111m Superyacht Leviathan
Oceanco has delivered Leviathan, formerly Project Y722, a 111 m 363 ft diesel-electric superyacht that introduces a new philosophy of yachting, one that places people, purpose, and performance at the center.
Guided by the owner Gabe Newell’s ethos of teamwork and community, Leviathan’s revolutionary layout, ergonomic design, and innovative build process reflect a fresh approach to how yachts are designed, operated, and experienced.
Leviathan was developed through close collaboration between the owner, YTMC, Y.CO, Oceanco’s Design team, Mark Berryman Design, the crew, and an extensive network of co-makers and suppliers.
Every stage of the process emphasized openness, resulting in a yacht that blends technical innovation with a sense of shared achievement. A glass panel engraved with nearly 3,000 contributors’ names commemorates this collective effort.
Accommodating up to 26 guests and 37 crew, Leviathan reimagines traditional yacht layouts. Crew and guest areas are integrated to foster community, while leisure and operational spaces, from a bridge deck gaming lounge to a communal mess for 54 people, support wellbeing, collaboration, and long-term retention. Amenities include a basketball court, whirlpool, and quiet spaces for learning and development.
Operational efficiency guided interior and exterior design. Durable materials, low-maintenance finishes, and custom Bolidt decking minimize routine upkeep, freeing crew to focus on guest experience. Exterior design merges functionality with avant-garde aesthetics, featuring a forward-leaning silhouette, prismatic forms, and sophisticated material palettes.
Leviathan’s hull, the latest evolution of Lateral’s DE-Series, combines advanced seakeeping, a seawater ballast system, and Quantum MagLift and XT Fin stabilizers for unmatched comfort. Twin ABB DO980P Azipods, a 5.5 MWh battery system, and diesel-electric propulsion ensure quiet, efficient operation. Extensive acoustic and vibration testing, along with optimized electrical and HVAC systems, create a serene onboard environment.
Leviathan doubles as a scientific platform for Inkfish, supporting marine research with onboard laboratories, dive facilities, a hospital, and a 3D printing workshop. The yacht exemplifies how large superyachts can serve communities, advance research, and foster collaboration, while delivering a high-performance, human-focused experience at sea.
