Italian yacht builder Baglietto has marked the start of a busy year with the launch of L’Instant, the first DOM133 model to feature an innovative hybrid propulsion system. With this, the shipyard reinforces its commitment to cutting-edge technology and sustainability while maintaining the unmistakable Italian design and craftsmanship that define its brand
A Hybrid Future: Innovation Meets Performance
Designed by Stefano Vafiadis (exteriors) and Leonardo Santi (interiors), L’Instant introduces an advanced hybrid propulsion system, integrating a diesel engine with an ultracompact electric motor positioned between the main engine and the gearbox. The Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesel engines are compatible with HVO biofuels, reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 90%.
This system allows the yacht to cruise in full-electric mode at nearly 10 knots while ensuring a completely silent onboard experience. At anchor, the yacht can operate for up to 9 hours on battery power alone, eliminating emissions and noise—an increasingly valuable feature for owners prioritizing sustainability.
Beyond propulsion, the yacht’s commitment to eco-conscious design extends to its interior materials, including carpets and fabrics sourced from recycled ocean plastics and regenerated industrial waste.
A Tailored Design for a Personalized Experience
While L’Instant belongs to Baglietto’s DOM133 range, it boasts a highly customized layout, a testament to the shipyard’s flexibility in working closely with owners—even on semi-custom models.
One of the key modifications is the relocation of the galley—traditionally on the main deck, it has been moved to the lower deck, making space for a VIP cabin with central lobby access. The master stateroom features automated windows, enhancing natural ventilation, while guest cabins on the lower deck have custom-made opening portholes for the same purpose.
The main deck and crew staircases have been completely redesigned, ensuring seamless vertical connectivity all the way to the sundeck. The outdoor areas also reflect a refined and functional approach: the traditional sundeck pool area has been replaced with a fully equipped outdoor gym, while a multi-purpose bar has been fitted with a dumbwaiter to enhance service efficiency.
Due to the hybrid system requiring additional technical space, storage for the 5.80m tender and two jet skis was moved to the upper deck, forward of the wheelhouse, with a 16Kn (1,600 kg capacity) davit installed for easy launch and retrieval.
Refined Interiors with a Personal Touch
The interiors of L’Instant exude a sophisticated yet warm elegance, brought to life through a harmonious combination of light eucalyptus and walnut finishes. Upholstered furniture follows a neutral palette, accented with touches of turquoise, a color personally chosen by the owner.
Selected pieces from iconic Italian design brands such as Flexform, Cassina, Vitra, and Softhouse further enhance the yacht’s refined aesthetic, balancing contemporary luxury with timeless appeal.
Performance-wise, L’Instant achieves a maximum speed of 17 knots under diesel power, while offering a near-silent cruising experience at 10 knots in full-electric mode.
A Milestone Year for Baglietto
With L’Instant now in the water, Baglietto has set the tone for what promises to be a landmark year, with eight new yachts scheduled for launch. As the industry shifts toward more eco-conscious solutions, L’Instant represents a significant step forward in sustainable yachting, blending innovation, efficiency, and bespoke luxury—hallmarks of the Baglietto brand.
