This fully newly designed model brimming with innovation in all important segments is even more suitable for charter and undoubtedly a pure Lagoon family member, which both guarantees its global success
When you’re already building the world’s best-selling catamaran, how do you innovate to… dethrone yourself? The answer to that question lies in the new model from the French builder Lagoon. Their brand new, fully newly designed Lagoon 43 replaces the current Lagoon 42, which, in its six years on the market, was built in more than 1,000 (!) units, surpassing the previous record holder – Lagoon 380 model, which took 10 years to be sold in 1,000 units.
Lagoon 43: Elevating the Leisure Sailing Experience
Although Lagoon 42 will still be built at special specification, the new Lagoon 43 is the new star of the brand that, frankly said, invented leisure catamarans. Unsurprisingly, Nautika Centar Nava, the Lagoon dealer for 25 years now, have brought Lagoon 43 to Croatia. Growing in step with Lagoon, they have too done their fair share of cat promotion locally, as Lagoon did globally, with special emphasis on their charter. Charter has become the main engine of development of all catamaran production, so the new model has been created with this segment in mind.
Unique Innovations in Design
The first thing we noticed was the glazed door aft in the cockpit, an element that distinguishes this model from all other catamarans. Other than being lovely in style, this door in stainless steel and glass provides an ideal way to get to the shore when the cat is moored sideways, and we can see it might also be popular with kids while at anchor.
The aft bench with a moving backrest can look both ways, towards the stern or towards the cockpit. Closer followers of Lagoon will notice that the mast position on this model has been moved back toward the bow, at the very beginning of the salon roof.
In addition to creating space for a valuable seating next to the helm station, and a sundeck on the bow part of the roof, this has opened up space for one of the most important new features of this model: joining the cockpit and salon into one common space.
As the mast base is now in the front part of the salon, the aft part of the salon is free and movement flows unobstructed towards the cockpit. The stern door moves aside, allowing the salon and the cockpit to become one large semi-open space.
A Galley Redesigned for Charter
The galley, which used to be tucked into the aft part of the salon, has been moved towards the bow, with slots for additional refrigerators (always welcome, especially in charter). The modular and moving dining table, allows for maximum use of the concept of connecting the two spaces. The only ‘victim’ of this layout innovation is the navigation area, which has been almost eliminated to accommodate the galley.

Expanded Hulls for More Space
The new model also differs from its predecessor in hull width: hulls have grown above the waterline, which allowed creating of four identical guest cabins for the first time on a boat this size. Each has a double bed and private bathroom with a convertible toilet space, another design detail targeting the charter market, where identical four-cabin vessels are demanded.
The bow cabins are connected by a opening window to a space in the bows, which serves either as a large storage room or as an additional cabin. Finally, the port aft cabin has an optional third bunk bed which is ideal for kids.

Reliable Performance Meets Modern Comfort
Lagoon 43 is powered by the same pair of engines as its predecessor, the unbreakable 57 hp Yanmar, thus capable of identical performance when motoring. As for sails, there is a difference in size and type of sails, but we’ll have to wait for warmer weather to compare Lagoon 42 and Lagoon 43 on the water. Both will be available for charter with Nautika Centar Nava.
With Lagoon 43, the French builder have introduced significant changes into a segment they have dominated for decades, and probably assured domination for decades to come.
