Breitling and Aston Martin Reunite with the Top Time DB5

Introduced in 1963, the Aston Martin DB5 quickly became a symbol of British design, innovation and unmistakable style. Its timeless presence firmly established Aston Martin among Britain's most desirable luxury brands. Today, Breitling and Aston Martin bring that shared legacy to the wrist with the Top Time B01 Chronograph 41 Tribute to Aston Martin DB5, presented in three distinct limited editions.

During the 1960s, the Top Time was Breitling's unconventional chronograph, created for a younger generation captivated by speed and automotive culture. The defining moment that forever linked these two icons came in 1965, when the Top Time ref. 2002 appeared on Sean Connery's wrist in Thunderball, alongside the Aston Martin DB5. It was the first Q-modified watch in the James Bond series, marking the beginning of a story in which speed, style and functionality came together in perfect harmony.

This latest edition reinterprets that historic encounter through materials and design. A wooden inner ring draws inspiration from the DB5's steering wheel, while the hand-colored gradient leather strap echoes the tones of fine automotive upholstery. 

The dial and subdials recall the classic dashboard gauges of the legendary grand tourer, while the cushion-shaped case, grooved corners and signature mushroom pushers preserve the distinctive character of Breitling's 1960s chronographs. The result is a watch that effortlessly bridges heritage and contemporary design.

Powering the Top Time B01 Chronograph 41 Tribute to Aston Martin DB5 is the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, a COSC-certified chronograph movement engineered for exceptional precision and reliability. 

Its column-wheel architecture and vertical clutch ensure remarkably smooth and accurate chronograph operation, while the approximately 70-hour power reserve provides extended autonomy. Visible through the sapphire-crystal caseback, the movement is finished with a dedicated Aston Martin-engraved rotor, available in either a rhodium-plated or 18k red gold execution, depending on the version.

The collection comprises three distinct limited editions. The stainless steel model with a silver dial, limited to 1,022 pieces, stays closest in spirit to the original Top Time ref. 2002. The stainless steel and platinum version with a black lacquered dial, limited to 315 pieces, introduces greater contrast and visual presence through its platinum bezel. 

At the pinnacle of the collection is the 18k red gold edition featuring a natural onyx dial, limited to just 250 individually numbered pieces. It also marks the first time Breitling has used onyx for one of its dials, giving each watch a unique depth and lustre.
