The OTAM 90 GTS ‘SEXY ME’ is the latest creation from the renowned Italian shipyard, which garnered significant acclaim during its official world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
‘Celebrating our 70th anniversary with a project like the OTAM 90 GTS and with a client so decisive in their requests has been the best gift we could receive,’ explains Matteo Belardinelli, Sales and Communication Manager at OTAM. ‘It was another opportunity to take on the challenge of customizing a very fast boat, where even shifting 50 kilograms from starboard to port can have a significant impact. These are the kinds of challenges that allow us to evolve and grow.’
Comfort, space, and style blend seamlessly in the luxurious 28-meter yacht with outstanding performance. The combination of two powerful 2,600-horsepower MTU engines, Arneson surface propellers and a hull meticulously designed by Umberto Tagliavini and Aldo Scorzoni of Marine Design & Services has allowed the new OTAM 90 GTS ‘SEXY ME’ to achieve an impressive maximum speed of 45.4 knots, exceeding the contracted speed of 42 knots.
This achievement is even more impressive considering it was accomplished during sea trials off the coast of Cannes with a sizable crew onboard, all while maintaining extremely smooth, highly responsive navigation and outstanding seaworthiness—qualities for which OTAM is renowned worldwide.
Achieving these objectives was a significant challenge, particularly given the additional weight onboard compared to the original design. This was due to specific requests from the owner, such as the custom rotating passerelle, stabilizers, extensive use of marble throughout the interiors and exteriors, a state-of-the-art stereo system with a dedicated rack room, and much more.
Equally remarkable is the yacht’s quietness at every speed, ensured by meticulous flow studies that eliminated all turbulence. Despite the GTS being a semi-open version, the comfort onboard remains impressive even at high speeds and in rough seas.
Customized design is a distinctive feature of the OTAM 90 GTS, following the tradition of the Italian shipyard. Thanks to the collaboration with Giuseppe Bagnardi of the BG Design Firm, the new flagship stands out for its unique and tailor-made details.
‘SEXY ME’ is indeed the perfect model to appreciate the artisanal craftsmanship involved in pre-fitting and onboard ‘cutting and construction’ with millimeter precision: a process that is becoming increasingly rare in today’s yachting industry, yet one that OTAM proudly upholds as a hallmark of genuine ‘Made in Italy.’
The client’s numerous specifications have resulted in a truly outstanding yacht: the OTAM 90 GTS ‘SEXY ME’ exudes elegance without being formal, thanks to its timeless design that is both balanced and distinctive. The expertly integrated mix of materials is particularly striking, featuring travertine and marble on the floors and bulkheads, parquet with a 45-degree cut and finishes that enhance the inherent beauty of each material. The richness and complexity of the bronze profiles harmonize beautifully with the gold and pink-hued marble, creating a refined equilibrium that is both sophisticated and refreshingly light.
The sporty character is highlighted by the helm console, inspired by racing cars, featuring a carbon-fiber structure that resembles the protective ‘halo’ system used by Formula 1 and other racing cars.
This structure also features an integrated and independent cooling system to keep the console electronics at a constant temperature. The air intakes on the front of the yacht and ‘snorkel’ on the hardtop further recall the hood and roof scoops on high-performance luxury cars.
‘We concentrated,’ explains Belardinelli, ‘on a meticulous analysis of weight distribution and the engineering of the superstructure to completely eliminate all support pillars. The expansive structural side windows and the spherical windscreen of the helm create an incredible sense of space onboard, complemented by an internal height of over 2.20 meters.
This design ensures perfect visibility even when seated and allows for unobstructed natural light, all of which translates into luxury, design, and an enhanced quality of life.’
The hull coated with metallic silver paint with bronze accents, specially developed by Awlgrip for the owner, is just one aspect that reflects its personality.
The layout of ‘SEXY ME’, naturally full custom, accommodates guests in its three ensuite cabins. Below deck there is the full-beam owner’s suite, a VIP cabin, a third guest cabin and a lounge with an office rack room for the stereo system. On the main deck, in addition to the spacious convivial cockpit with an opening hard top, there is specific access to the kitchen, which is deliberately separated from the VIP section.
The crew area is generously sized and features independent access. Aft, there is a large sunbathing space and a large bathing platform. Forward, a spacious dinette with relaxation and dining area are always accessible thanks to the generous and comfortable side walkways.
Prominent among the OTAM 90 GTS’s endless customization possibilities are full or half-height side windows, single or double hull window, for the master suite; a larger or smaller garage, in this case capable of accommodating a 4.35 m tender which can vary in size upon request.
OTAM’s artisanal approach once again confirms the yard’s intention and ability to meet every demand of its owners (who are often megayacht owners, as in the case of M/Y ‘SEXY ME’) developing unique projects as the ultimate expression of exclusivity and luxury in today’s market. And this new OTAM 90 GTS is no exception.
‘This is a comprehensive project, an exceptionally versatile series available in three variants: GTS, HT and T-TOP, featuring an elegant and balanced design that is intended to stand the test of time,’ comments Belardinelli. ‘It can accommodate a wide array of diverse requests, thanks to a foundational engineering approach that is truly unmatched.’
Beyond the GTS version, which is semi-open like ‘SEXY ME,’ the OTAM 90 is fundamentally a series engineered for both the HT version, featuring a closed main deck and the forthcoming T-Top variant, notable for its incredible design and lifestyle elements in a truly unique configuration.
Additionally, the Italian shipyard is prepared to meet the individual requests of each client by creating bespoke layouts that reflect the owner’s personality through the OTAM CO DESIGN LAB. Future owners can collaborate with their own designers to develop a project, whether it’s a 70, 80, or 90-foot yacht, all crafted with the same meticulous attention to detail typically reserved for private homes or mega yachts.”
‘I also want to extend the compliments and praise we received during our debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival and the sea trials to all our employees and artisans,’ concludes Belardinelli.
