Feadship Debuts the Radical 115m HIVE: The Great Parisian Salon of the Seas

Unveiled at the House of Feadship during the Monaco Yacht Show, HIVE represents the Dutch builder’s largest concept design to date, measuring an impressive 115 metres. Developed by Studio De Voogt alongside Feadship’s naval architects, the yacht reimagines superyacht architecture by placing human interaction at the absolute center of its design. 

Inspired by Parisian cultural salons of the 1930s and shaped around the lifestyle of a fictional family of four, HIVE organizes onboard life around a sprawling, four-deck central atrium that acts as a versatile social hub.

Surrounding this open heart are distinct living zones, including a two-storey beach lounge leading to water-level dining for 24 guests, a glass-enclosed foredeck library opening to a private garden, an underwater lounge, and an owner’s deck featuring a 20-metre ContraWave pool flowing into a suspended, glass-bottomed infinity pool. 

By replacing the traditional wheelhouse with a sensor-driven virtual command centre, Studio De Voogt dedicated the prime forward superstructure to the owner’s suite and an observation lounge equipped with a retractable glass roof.

Engineered for technical feasibility, HIVE is powered by Voith Schneider Propellers for quiet, omnidirectional maneuvering. Her advanced DC electrical architecture pairs three 900 kW variable-speed HVO generators with a massive 5 MWh Li-ion battery bank and fuel cells with a methanol reformer, allowing for complete zero-emission operation.

Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, HIVE features a 17.50-metre beam, a 4.05-metre draught, and a top speed of 16 knots. At a 12-knot cruising speed, her 410,000-litre fuel capacity provides an expansive range of 9,500 nautical miles on HVO or 5,000 nautical miles on methanol.
