Ferretti Yachts 940 Review: Comfortable Long-Range Cruiser
More than a yacht, the Ferretti 940 is a luxurious sea residence where design elevates lifestyle
In Venice, life is a mesh of sea, luxury, art, style, refinement and tradition, and every journey is a mix of adventure, discovery and memories. As if inspired by Venice, the new Ferretti 940 is an invitation to sail in an environment of luxury, style, art, tradition and safety where every journey will turn into a beautiful memory.
Design & wide-body innovation
The exterior of the new Ferretti 940 luxury yacht is the work of no other than Filippo Salvetti, while studio Ideaeitalia designed the interior. The model’s unmistakably Italian design is based on three principles: dynamic lines, the importance of light and dialogue with the environment.
With a length of 28.97 meters and a maximum beam of 6.76 meters, the Ferretti 940 is also the first wide-body model in its class, with enough space for five cabins on two decks.
Main deck comfort & layout
You’ll notice the harmony between nature, space and the needs of modern life as soon as you step aboard. The cockpit stretches over 32 square meters of space and offers the possibility of arranging the seating – two spacious sofas and the adjacent table, as well several sofas by Minotti – to your current needs or liking, as we saw on the unit we tested.
Functional cockpit and salon
The main deck salon opens the world of airy comfort. The space is filled with natural light thanks to large glazing that also provides an uninterrupted view of the sea. Comfortable Minotti sofas, selected materials and colors create a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for socializing or relaxing at sunset.
On the new Ferretti, design is more than just pretty – it is also functional, as every piece of furniture has its place and purpose. The designer dining table is served by nine chairs, while the large television is elegantly hidden inside cabinets when not in use.
The unit we tested had large glass doors on the starboard side (option), opposite the dining table, which further enhanced the feeling of spaciousness. Port-side, there is the passage to the galley, stairs to the crew area and stairs to the separate, elevated wheelhouse, while starboard there is a wide passage leading to the master cabin, the day head and the lower deck.
The wheelhouse is spacious and well placed, with neatly arranged navigation instruments, with enough space for manuals, documents and everything else the skipper might need. The windshield is made in one piece, and offers complete visibility across the horizon.
Flybridge and guest areas
From the wheelhouse, stairs lead to the flybridge helm station, with equally great visibility. The upper deck stretches across 50 square meters and is covered with a hard top with a moving central part.
Starboard side of the upper deck, there is an outdoor galley with an L-shaped bar, while port there is a large dining table with chairs.
Astern, there is enough room for everything you might want to enjoy, be it lounging in the sun, dining under the stars or sipping your first morning coffee enjoying the sound of the waves.
The master cabin is on the main deck, stretches over 27 square meters and runs the full width of the ship. It is a true oasis of comfort, luxury and privacy.
With a king-size bed, a large wardrobe and a full-width bathroom designed in marble, with a number of designer details, the master cabin offers plenty of comfort and privacy. The master cabin is very calm, surrounded by views of the sea through large side windows.
The lower deck is large enough for four guest cabins and their respective bathrooms, three of which are double VIP cabins, and one has two single beds.
In the bow on the lower deck, crew cabins for four, crew galley and crew salon are spacious and well appointed, while astern there is the garage that can accommodate a tender up to 4.1 meters long and a hydraulic stern platform that allows easier tender maneuvering.
Engine specs & performance
The new Ferretti 940 is equally in terms of technology. Powered by two 2000-hp MAN V12 engines, the yacht is capable of racing the cruising speed of 21 knots and the top speed of 25 knots (or 27 knots, with 2200-hp MAN engines; option). The yacht has a CE class A certificate, which indicates the highest level of safety and seaworthiness in all sea conditions.
The Ferretti 940 is an exceptional yacht that embodies the idea of a yacht as a residence at sea, a place where luxury meets freedom, design supports lifestyle, and the sea becomes a natural extension of home, whether for private use or charter.
