The redesigned Ferretti 800 is an impressive yacht that once again confirms the builder’s capability of setting new market trends by designing yachts that can satisfy the tastes and desires of owners around the world

Ferretti Yachts launched the redesign of their models back in 2018, releasing the redesigns in a specific, well-planned order. Ferretti 800 debuted in Cannes and dazzled in Genoa almost immediately after that, where it was crowned with the prestigious award for best innovation and design in the category of motor yachts over 14 meters long.

Evolution of Ferretti Yachts

Not at all unexpected, obviously, as the model represents the culmination of the redesign plan and embodies the consistent Ferreti aesthetics, innovation and signature style. The model was redesigned by a team led by Piero Ferrari, the Ferreti Group expert team and the design teams of Filippo Salvetti and IdeaeItalia, who designed the exterior and interior.

The Cannes show this year was the perfect opportunity for us to compare this redesign to the previous Ferretti Yachts models – beloved and well known – in terms of space, materials and every little design detail.

Exterior features and deck layout

The large teak aft platform stretching over seven square meters serves as the popular beach club, and holds folding seating. Ferretti offers the option of a shorter platform, for a yacht of only 24 m instead of the standard 24.47 m, to accommodate restrictions in some marinas and ports.

The cockpit of the boat stretches across 15 square meters and has a glass aft section that allows an unobstructed view of the open sea and the aft platform. Port-side, a wide staircase leads onto the flybridge, with the door to the crew directly below; three cabins, a bathroom and a toilet.

The engine room can also be accessed from the crew quarters. The unit we tested had a third helm, starboard in the cockpit (option).

Main deck: Salon and dining areas

Main deck is for the most part split between the impressively sized salon and the dining area, and the overall spaciousness is emphasized by the uninterrupted glazing that provide a fabulous view of the open sea and connection with the marine environment.

The salon is available in three layouts and two style versions; Classic, in earthy colors, and Contemporary, with glossy wood and fabrics in all the colors of the sea that come together to create elegant harmony.

Our unit had a glass side door separating the midship dining area, and a large wine refrigerator in the salon (option). The space is defined by a Minotti glass dining table and eight Alf DaFrea chairs, the final touch in the exquisitely and unusually designed salon.

The galley can be separated from the salon by sliding doors, for privacy for the owner and guests. The crew then has access to the galley and the main helm station through the dedicated port-side door. Also on the main deck, there is a day head and the helm, placed high for better visibility.

The bow cockpit is slightly smaller than the aft one, but still big enough for a sun pad and a sofa, both protected by a soft top with a carbon structure.

Below deck: Full-meam master suite and VIP comfort

Below deck, there are four cabins. The full-beam master cabin lies mid-ship, and has an an-suite and a large wardrobe. Ideally placed for maximum comfort in navigation, the master cabin boasts almost complete absence of noise and vibrations, while large side windows provide enough light and a wonderful view of the sea.

The VIP cabin is in the bow and fabulously spacious, with an en-suite and a double bed, while two twin guest cabins have flexible layout.

Flybridge design and functionality

The flybridge of the Ferretti 800 is among the largest in the 24-meter yacht segment. The helm is on the left side, with two ergonomic seats, while behind it there lies a V-shaped bar with a grill, an ice machine and a refrigerator, served by two bar stools.

Across the bar, the large dining table seats four and is covered by a hard top providing excellent protection from the sun, while the stern is dully open, ideal for deckchairs and sunbathing.

Performance and sea trial

In the standard version, the 800 is powered by 2 x MAN 1550 hp engines, while the unit we tested was equipped with stronger 2 x MAN 1800 HP engines, so we achieved a cruising speed of 28 knots at 2270 rpm with a consumption of up to 660 l/h, while at 1419 rpm our speed was 13 knots and a consumption of 195 l/h.

Turning at all speeds was precise and without tilting, as the unit had installed dynamic Sleipner lateral stabilizers and two Seakeeper gyro stabilizers, for next-level comfort and stability in navigation and at anchor.
