FIM Premieres the New 580 Contessa
Fabbrica Italiana Motoscafi (FIM) will present the new 580 Contessa in world premiere at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival. The flagship of the shipyard and the first model in the new sport-fly Contessa range, the 580 Contessa is a strategic project that expands FIM’s offer by introducing a new onboard dimension, combining sporty elegance, generous liveability, build quality and driving pleasure.
With exterior design by FIM in collaboration with Design aLot, the 580 Contessa interprets the sea through the shipyard’s distinctive language: essential, decisive and contemporary. Her sculpted silhouette, balanced volumes and tailored attention to detail define a yacht conceived for owners who wish to experience the sea with intensity, comfort and ease.
The flybridge is discreetly integrated into the profile, without interrupting the visual continuity of the line. The overall perception remains light and dynamic, in line with the sporty character of the yacht, while the upper space enriches life on board by offering a new perspective over the sea.
‘The 580 Contessa represents a very important step for FIM, as it marks the beginning of a new design direction,’ says Corrado Piccinelli, founder and CEO of FIM. ‘In Cannes, we are presenting the international public not only with a new model, but with a vision for growth. The 580 Contessa, the Regina range and the new 400 Contessa Coupé project tell the story of a coherent path, built around design, quality and the ability to interpret the contemporary way of experiencing the sea.’
On board, the 580 Contessa amplifies the pleasure of outdoor living. Once opened, the aft side terraces create a generous beach area suspended over the sea. Forward, the space adapts with the same versatility that characterises the Regina range: with a simple gesture, the sunpad converts into a refined lounge area, conceived as a more intimate and secluded corner.
Manuela Barcella, co-founder of FIM, adds: ‘With the 580 Contessa, we wanted to give owners back the true value of leisure time: the freedom to experience the sea at their own pace, sharing every moment with family and guests. I like to think of this yacht as a space that transforms together with those who live it; a yacht that changes throughout the day, capable of offering the energy of navigation, the carefree spirit of outdoor living and, in the evening, an intimate and personal place in which to relax.’
The interiors, designed in collaboration with Studio Nerocardinale, confirm the shipyard’s desire to offer a fluid onboard experience, with no real boundary between interior and exterior spaces. In the main saloon, the large electrically operated side windows and the access door from the cockpit open completely, while the louvered opening roof allows air and natural light to flow in. The galley countertop extends from the saloon through to the cockpit, and the fully flat deck level removes any difference in height between the areas.
The accommodation layout includes three cabins, in addition to one double bed cabin for the crew, confirming the 580 Contessa’s vocation for longer cruises enjoyed in maximum comfort. The owner’s suite is conceived as the true heart of the yacht, a place that expresses the sense of belonging to one’s own boat. Bright and generous in its spaces, it brings the intimacy of a familiar environment to life at sea, placing the owner at the centre of the onboard experience.
The world premiere of the 580 Contessa comes at a time of strong evolution for FIM, which has also recently announced its new Tender Division. Alongside the new flagship, the shipyard will also highlight in Cannes the most representative models of the Regina range, the 500 Regina and 440 Regina, which express the path that has consolidated the brand’s identity on the international market. At the same time, FIM will unveil the first details of the new 400 Contessa Coupé project, currently under development and scheduled to launch in spring 2027.
