Princess Yachts Enters the Centre-Console Market with the C48
Princess Yachts, Britain’s largest luxury yacht builder, has officially revealed details of its groundbreaking new model, the Princess C48. This yacht marks a significant entry into the centre-console market and the shipyard’s first-ever use of outboard-powered engines.
The C48 is the result of a notable collaboration among three leaders in the marine industry. Esteemed naval architect Michael Peters designed the underwater sections, utilizing his patented Stepped Vee Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT) hull.
The exterior architecture was crafted by long-standing partners Bernard Olesinski Limited (BOL), while Princess's own in-house team, led by Andy Lawrence, was responsible for the styling and interior design.
This partnership has produced a yacht that blends cutting-edge hydrodynamics with a sleek design. The core of the C48's performance lies in Peters' patented SVVT hull, which is renowned for its efficiency, speed, and comfort. The advanced hull reduces drag and generates lift by channeling air under the running surface, which improves both performance and fuel economy.
A key feature of the SVVT is its central ventilated tunnel, which enhances grip and directional stability while turning, allowing the C48 to handle challenging seas with confidence.
The C48 will be available in two versions: the Open and the Deck Saloon. Both models offer multiple engine choices, including outboard petrol and inboard diesel powertrains:
- Triple Mercury V10 400hp Verado: Capable of speeds up to 46 knots.
- Triple Mercury V12 600hp Verado: This delivers a top speed of up to 54 knots.
- Twin Volvo D6-480 inboard diesel engines: Provides a maximum speed of up to 34 knots.
