Sirena Yachts 60 is a sophisticated new German Frers signature yacht that delivers the ultimate in comfort, style and versatility

Back in 2018, we tested Sirena Yachts very first model, Sirena 58. Remarkable in economy and design, that model proved to be a complete hit, with a total of 86 units built – and stayed in production until this year, when Sirena debuted her deserving successor, Sirena 60.

Worthy successor to the Sirena 58

The new yacht improves on the previous one with so many interesting elements that it can in no way be considered just a new version of anything, while at the same time keeping all the signature features that made her predecessor so popular.

This is best seen in the exterior, on the flat-bow and the high-bow hull, designed by the legendary Frers Yacht Design. The tall superstructure with a flybridge covered with a hard-top gives the model a compact, utilitarian look we’ve seen on previous Sirena models.

Exterior design and layout

The stern opens with a large platform, significantly larger than that on the predecessor. Half of the platform is submersible with the help of a hydraulic lift, and houses a tender up to almost four meters long.

Next to the platform, there is the door to the skipper’s cabin, and on both sides, stairs leading to the aft part of the main deck, to the salon door. The cockpit is spacious and simple, with a sofa and a dining table, protected by a flybridge accessible by stairs on the port side of the superstructure.

Comfort-oriented flybridge

Up on the flybridge, space is used exquisitely, especially on the aft part, left empty to house moving furniture. The central part of the flybridge is occupied by the mast holding the radar and the outdoor shower in the cockpit, while to the right, there is the bar with a grill and sink. In front of the bar, the large and comfortable C-shaped sofa serves the dining table seating all guests, and on the bow, there is a small sun pad.

The left side of the flybridge houses the exterior helm served by two seats, with a large command panel where throttle levers and the maneuvering joystick are placed to the left. The flybridge is placed pretty high, allowing excellent visibility from the helm. The front part of the flybridge is protected by a hard-top with an opening central part for some sun.

The bow of the new Sirena 60 can be easily accessed by well-protected side passageways with high railings, and was designed to be the heart of the exterior. Mostly occupied by an enormous sun pad, the bow has plenty of space left for a large C-shaped sofa and a folding dining table overlooking the top of the bow, so the new model offers more useful outdoor space than her predecessor.

Sophisticated minimalist interior

The design retains similar indoors, with the galley right next to the salon entrance. The L-shaped counter top with a sink, and the ceramic hob are all starboard, while the fridge and the oven are port, and the galley is spacious.

Towards the bow and one step higher lies the dining area that doubles as the living area, with a C-shaped sofa and dining table starboard. The salon also has storage space, in the form of a large chest of drawers that also hides the LCD TV when it’s not in use.

The interior helm lies in front of the two-part curved windshield, and is served by two seats. The command console is identical to the one on the flybridge, so they’re both easy to switch between, and the interior helm is connected to the deck by a dedicated door. Visibility from the helm and from the interior salon is excellent, thanks to the tall windows and the well-designed windshield.

Three-cabin accommodation

To the right of the helm station, semicircular stairs lead to a corridor that connects the three guest cabins: the master astern, the double guest cabin and the VIP cabin in the bow. All three cabins are served by en-suites, with the master and the VIP also enjoying private shower cabins, while the guest cabin bathroom can be accessed from the salon, too, and doubles as day head.

The master cabin stands out, with a large double bed mid-space and a large desk, an enormous hull window and a small sofa on the left side. The double bed in the VIP cabin is slightly smaller than that in the master, and the cabin is in the very bow, making good use of the space.

Light wood and black decorative elements such as drawer handles or window frames combined with light fabrics enhance the feeling of spaciousness and create a pleasant minimalist space that won’t go out of fashion too soon.

Sea trial and performance

On the day of our sea trial, Cannes was windy (12-13 knots) and the sea slightly unruly, and on top pf that, we were 16-strong aboard. Most builders would scrap the testing in such conditions, but Sirena representatives were thrilled at the opportunity to put to display their hull design. Perfectly coupled with Seakeeper stabilizers, the hull sliced through the waves with minimal rolling.

Engines, speed and fuel consumption

With fuel and water tanks approximately 80 percent full and powered by two 900-hp Volvo D13 engines, the new Sirena pushed to the top speed of 23.7 knots at 2250 rpm and a consumption of 340 liters per hour.

At 1800 rpm, we reached the decent cruising speed of 16 knots and a consumption of 200 liters per hour. For maximum range (8 knots at 1000 rpm), the consumption drops to only 38 liters per hour. We have noticed once more the excellent quality of every structural element, with very little floor creaking audible in navigation, and the maximum noise reaching only 71 decibels in the salon.

Sirena 60 is a well-designed, well-made yacht combining excellent economy and seaworthiness with a functional design that will surely be appreciated by lovers of long cruising adventures.
