Meet the Swan Alloy 44, the Largest Swan Ever Built

Nautor Swan has unveiled the Swan Alloy 44, the largest yacht in the brand's 60-year history and the first of a new line of aluminium-built sailing superyachts.

The 44-metre yacht was presented on the eve of the Monaco Yacht Show, days after a record Rolex Swan Cup in Porto Cervo, where nearly 170 owners gathered to mark Swan's 60th anniversary.

The Alloy 44 is the most significant new model since Sanlorenzo acquired Nautor Swan in 2024, marking the group's entry into sailing superyachts. It is the first of a new Alloy line, to be followed by a 50-metre version and a ketch model.

'Sixty years of Swan gives us an extraordinary legacy, but also the responsibility to keep moving forward,' said Massimo Perotti, Executive Chairman of Sanlorenzo. 'Swan Alloy 44 is the largest Swan ever conceived, and marks the beginning of our journey into sailing superyachts.'

Built across three countries

The Alloy 44 combines Swan's Finnish design heritage with Dutch aluminium shipbuilding expertise and Italian yacht-building experience. The hull and deck are built by Gouwerok Shipyard in the Netherlands. The yacht is then moved to Viareggio, Italy, for outfitting and final delivery.

Engineers used Finite Element Analysis to optimise the aluminium structure, reducing weight while maintaining strength. The build also uses rounded base profiles instead of conventional angular joints, producing cleaner lines and a smoother finish.

Design by McKeon and Liaigre

Naval architecture and exterior design are by Malcolm McKeon. The interiors are by Paris-based Studio Liaigre. Large windows and open transitions link the interior with the sea. 

The upper deck is open and connected to its surroundings, while the lower deck is more intimate, built around natural materials and simple detailing.

Hybrid energy system

Under sail, the yacht's propeller can drive a generator that recharges the onboard batteries, reducing reliance on diesel generators during passages. The system draws on experience from Sanlorenzo's hybrid programme and earlier Nautor Swan projects, including the Swan 51, Swan 88 and Swan 128.

The Swan Alloy 44 is currently under construction, with first delivery expected in summer 2028.
