Pershing GTX80 Review: Sleek, Sophisticated, and Powerful

6 minutes

Every part of the new Pershing GTX80, from her elegant, sharp exterior lines to her luxuriously appointed interior, speaks volumes on the skills and imagination of Pershing. This is another gorgeously designed, skillfully built yacht, another ideal companion for longer, comfortable cruising

Continuing the Legacy: The GTX80 Debuts with Style and Elegance

Following the revolutionary, impressive model GTX116 launched in 2023, which caused enthusiasm with her bold and striking lines, Pershing expanded the line this year with the new, smaller model GTX80. Unveiled at the Venice Yacht Show in the historic Arsenale, the GTX80 turned a lot of heads with her size (almost 24 meters), sharp lines and distinctive silver hull.

The exterior of the GTX80 stands out with its distinctive silver hull and sharp lines, while the spacious aft platform offers both functional and aesthetic appeal

Innovative Comfort and Design Details That Impress

Her bow isn’t as sharp as that of her predecessor, her hull is tall, and her superstructure is placed centrally. The sport bridge and open lounges on both ends all carry all the distinctive features of Pershing GTX line, all masterfully integrated, so almost no element of design stands out, be it aesthetically or by function. The spacious aft platform is served by a dedicated hydraulic lift, and it’s both functional and aesthetic.

One step above, the beach club space is designed for close contact with water, with a swimming platform and large side terraces that open it to an impressive area of 28 sq.n. Three steps up, the main deck opens with an al fresco dining table and a small sofa, in a space fully protected by the aft part of the sport bridge above, easily reached by the dedicated staircase on the starboard side.

Despite its potentially Spartan name, the sport bridge on GTX80 is just as comfortable and lavishly appointed as the rest of the yacht, with an aft dedicated entirely for catching rays, with a spacious sunpad protected by a stainless steel fence, whose folding headboard doubles as the backrest of one of the two sofas.

In front of them, the folding dining table is protected by a minimalist T-top supported by two centrally placed structures, with an outdoor bar and a kitchen between them. The entire structure is made of carbon fiber to withstand the maximum speed of this yacht, best enjoyed on the sport bridge. This command console guarantees excellent visibility, as well as that exciting navigation feeling that so many skippers dream about.

The bow is easily reached through the salon, or through the narrow side passages ways that are there as a safety alternative, and is appointed with two U-shaped sofas that surround a folding dining table, easily converted into another spacious sunpad. Inside, the main deck salon begins at the large sliding door starboard which disappears from view when fully open. On the port side, the glass wall can be lowered to connect the outdoor bar and the indoor galley which is located by the very entrance, to the port side.

Where Futuristic Design Meets Classic Comfort

Like all Pershing models, GTX80 has a salon appointed in a contrasting color scheme: the white leather on the sofas and chairs contrasts with the dark flooring, the black glass table and with the silvery, sparkling kitchen cabinets, all hand-made by sanding down a double layer of paint, which is a technique used several times in the interior.

The galley itself is very spacious, with a U-shaped layout, and has a dedicated bar with practical, but stylish bar stools, perfect for socializing. Across the galley, there is a dining table seating eight, and in front of the galley, a large and comfortable sofa. Right next to it, there is a semi-circular staircase leading below deck.

Toward the bow, the command post is flanked by two exits leading to the very bow, while the command console is placed centrally, with two seats, and equipped with the IPS joystick, autopilot and bow-thruster controls on the handles.

On the dashboard, there are three large multi-function displays, and just like on every Pershing model, the entire windshield is a single glass panel. Visibility from the skipper’s seat, as well as from the entire salon, is good and gives guests a feeling of being close to the sea.

The interior is luxuriously appointed, with plenty of customization options, and the cabins are on par with the salon in terms of luxury and sophistication. The unit we took out for a spin followed a dark color scheme furniture in dark wenge wood complemented by gray-blue satin finish panels and a gray ceiling criss-crossed with LED strips matching the black decorative pattern on the carpet.

The futuristic style Pershing opted for is most evident in the luxurious master cabin located placed centrally, with a bed facing the stern, a sofa on the port side of the hull, next to a desk, and a spacious bathroom with a separate shower cabin. In addition to the master, there is also a VIP cabin in the bow, also with a double bed, and two single guest cabins, all with their private bathrooms. Another layout is available, where one guest cabin is replaced with a second salon with a large sofa.

A Smooth, High-Performance Ride Tailored for Modern Yachting

In addition to luxury and style, Pershing models have always been known for top performance and joy they provide to skippers. This new model has a brand new hull, developed for coupling with three Volvo Penta D13 IPS1350 engines, each providing 1000 hp. The designers say their goal was to make navigation as easy as possible, as modern owners are losing interest in speed, and wish to spend more time cruising in peace, with excellent fuel economy.

Two Seakeeper NG9 make sure cruising is indeed comfortable, and excellent hull design made sure we enjoyed our test despite adventurous sea conditions, strong wind and several sharp turns – not a single drop of water reached the windows on the superstructure. We achieved top speed of 33 knots with 15 passengers, half full fuel and water tanks, and consumption of 563 liters per hour. Optimal cruising speed achieved during the test was 28.5 knots (450 liters of fuel per hour), although we preferred 24 knots with a consumption of 367 liters per hour, a nice compromise.

Elegant in navigation as it is elegant in design, the new Pershing GTX80 demonstrates the builder’s ability to translate all of the beloved features of their style into new designs custom made for modern owners.
