The master cabin in the bow and a brand new stern cockpit are the biggest innovations on the latest Absolute 60 Fly, representing a bold step forward in design by the Italian builder
Italian shipyard Absolute have launched their latest fly model, the new 60 Fly, a yacht that might change completely the overall yachting philosophy in her segment. Brimming with new solutions, new design and new functional features, the yacht is interesting aft to bow.
Absolute 60 Fly design
The most interesting part is the cockpit, dubbed ‘terrace’ by the builder, with freestanding furniture that can be stacked and arranged around folding table in the center of the cockpit. These chairs are both visually pleasing and modern, with easily movable backrests that allow any desired configuration.
There is no classic transom; in its place are a stainless steel and glass fence that allows the eye to roam, and a large aft platform accessible by symmetrical double stairs. We loved cockpit sides, styled in the image of 1960s cars and slightly sloping toward the aft, giving the Absolute 60 Fly a spectacular behind.
Innovative place for master cabin
This entire space can be shielded with several folding roofs hidden in the sides. On the bow, there is enough space for a large sun bed. The other innovative space on the yacht is the master cabin, or more precisely, its location. Although we have seen master cabins in the bow on several French models, Absolute have managed to build the smallest yacht using this solution – and they did it without levels of any kind, with a typically Italian refined aesthetic.
The master cabin has a bed facing the bow, almost too large side windows and a lovely private head in the very bow. The cabin enjoys an elevated position, guaranteeing privacy even in crowded marinas. Just like on models of the Navetta series, this solution has allowed creation of a large storage space below the master cabin, accessible through a ‘secret compartment’ in the VIP cabin. The VIP cabin is below deck, just like a third cabin, a double, whose head also serves as day head.
New Absolute Fly layout
Although Absolute currently offer only one layout option, we can see a version of this model with a VIP stretching across the entire lower deck. Aft, there is a fourth cabin, with two Pullman beds for either crew or an extra friend, a private head, a shower and air-conditioning. This lavish layout is fully due to the brand new hull design.
In the marina, we were accidentally parked next to an older version of the Absolute 62 Fly, whose length overall is identical to the LOA of the new Absolute 60 Fly, still in production for those looking for a traditional yacht. Innovation doesn’t end with the master cabin. We loved the hard top on the fly, loaded with solar panels that have the capacity to gather enough power for daily use at anchor. Kudos to the Italian builder for their practical approach to ecology.
Light interior
As for the fly, it’s among the largest in this class, has a comfortable skipper’s seat, an additional seat in the middle, a dining table, and a small bar. Aft on the fly, there is plenty of free space for a deck chair or any other free-standing piece of furniture.
The interior is light and the view is interrupted in all directions, through the large side windows and the cutouts in the side fence. If you do manage to tear your eyes away from the view, you’ll find that the interior is inviting and the furnishing impeccably made. The space is lit by LED tapes in the ceiling, as well as discreet lighting elements.
Simull
M/Y Simull with her dynamic and chic silhouette, generous living space, three elegant en-suite cabins, including a full beam master’s cabin, and with the Sport Flybridge makes her an absolute yacht for your holiday!
In the salon, there is the galley, the lounge and the command post, served by a private starboard door leading to the deck. This space can be furnished in several ways, depending on the placement of storage units. Finally, we were delighted by interior height – minimum 195 cm.
Absolute 60 Fly speed and fuel consumption
Once we sailed out, Absolute 60 Fly treated us as well as we expected. The model manages to stay stable and calm, despite her high superstructure, thanks to Seakeeper stabilizers. We reached planning at around 15 knots, and maintained fuel consumption of 9 l/h up to 25 knots. At top speed of 29 knots, fuel consumption jumped to 10 l/h. Absolute 60 Fly is equipped with Garmin instruments, very precise and well selected for her Volvo Penta IPS drive.
At 24 knots, noise level remained stable at 70 db in the lounge. This comfortable yacht is enjoyable in every aspect and represents a rave step into the future for her builder, whom we wish to congratulate on their bravery and wish them plenty of success with this model.
