Celebrates 100 years

In what must be one of the most lavish, electric and enthralling shipyard ceremonies we’ve ever attended, the Mondomarine brand celebrated 100- years of Cantieri Navali Campanella shipyard in considerable style this September. Proceedings commenced with a press conference for invited members of the media, with guests arriving as twilight fell and excited anticipation grew. A night of speeches, launches, pyrotechnics, live music, fine food, no small amount of Krug and Laurent Perrier Rose and whole lot of fun followed. The live acts performing were truly first class and covered a whole spectrum of musical entertainment from stirring opera and classical, through dramatic show tunes and dance, to disco and party music that had everyone heading to the dance floor. Luminaries from around the industry were in attendance to celebrate the achievement of the Campanella shipyard existing continuously on the site for the last 100-years and designers, suppliers and supporters of Mondomarine turned out in full support. Designers included the father and son pairing of Giorgio and Stefano Inglese Vafiadis, Cor D Rover, the Hot Lab team with Antonio Romano from Milan, Luis De Basto and long-standing collaborator Luca Dini. Also there to witness the launch of their first vessel for the yard was the team of SF Yachts, Francesco and Saba Pitea from Dubai with designer Luca Vallebona. There could never have been a better-attended or more dramatic launch for a 42m in the history of yachting. We encouraged Pitea to explain to his client, the owner was also in attendance, not to expect such a high level of production at subsequent launches! During the ceremony Mondomarine shipyard owner Alessandro Falciai and partner Roberto Zambrini took to the stage to thank all for attending, express gratitude to those who contribute to Mondomarine’s continuation of producing history on the site and received awards from regional business associations for their commitment to the maintenance and development of a skilled workforce in the region. In all honesty pictures do a far better job of describing such events than words and blurred memories, so I’ll concede here and let the photographer fill in the gaps. www.mondomarine.mc
