Prestige X70 is the latest addition to the new X-Line and the bravest yacht the brand has ever created, review in Cannes opened our eyes to the value of thinking outside the box

Prestige keep their fingers on the pulse of their clients and react promptly to their every desire. Two years ago, in 2019, the brand designed a new line that embodies every trend – more specifically, the demand for yachts that allow the user to spend as much time outdoors as they like, but at the same time offer comfortable, plush interiors that feel like family home. Last year, despite all odds, Prestige have managed to launch the X-Line, advertising the first model as a crossover.

Prestige X70 is a crossover yacht, indeed; a yacht that leaves no desire unfulfilled. When it comes to exterior lines, the first model in the line takes inspiration from previous Prestige models – tall hull, elongated diamond-shaped side windows – but doesn’t forget to innovate.

The superstructure is pushed toward the bow, which leaves more room aft, the windshield leans backward in the style of the modern explorer, and the fly bridge is visually connected to the hull but seems to be floating above the deck. Finally, tiny touches like the roof and the silver-colored roll bar on the fly bridge give the Prestige X70 a touch of luxury, as well as an unusually aggressive style for a yacht this type.

Prestige X70 layout

After a painfully long wait, we finally got a chance to take the new Prestige X70 out for a ride and review during this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival. Our first impression was that of luxury and smart design, starting from the submersible aft platform and serves as bot the tender parking spot and a private beach with a folding bench. From there, you can choose which of the two symmetrical staircases – below which we have found the entrance to crew quarters – to use to climb to the deck.

On Prestige X70, the interior melts into the exterior, and large side glazing allow the eye to roam across the sea. The salon is furnished in light and airy materials and fabrics, with exemplary deck flooring that shines like glass, but never lets the foot to slip. Toward the bow, the final element of the salon, the white marble bar element, completes the look of one space and opens the other: both port and starboard, there are staircases that lead below deck; the port staircase to the master cabin and the starboard staircase to the VIP and guest cabins. The master is in the bow, has a bed positioned with headboard toward the aft, and is served by a private head, a walk-in wardrobe, a mini-salon with a sofa, as well as a large skylight-inspired lighting element that spreads cozy light in natural colors on the entire cabin.

The VIP cabin and the guest cabins are equally luxurious, with the VIP placed mid-ship. All the cabins are cozy and sophisticated, decorated with plenty of exotic wenge wood and natural stone, and all heads have shower cabins. The U-shaped galley is on the main deck and well connected to the interior, right next to the bridge, which is elevated for better visibility.

The bridge itself is an exercise in practicality and functionality, with three large multi-functional displays, the electronic gas lever and the IPS joystick doing most of the work. From the bridge, you can exit straight onto the deck via the starboard door.

The fly is easily accessible, served by a short staircase, and the most interesting part of the yacht, as is mostly the case on models like these. The aft door closes for more space, and the bow is protected by a roll bar and large enough for several elements with a grill, a sink, a fridge and a freezer, as well as a table and chairs for four to six. Finally, there is the auxiliary bridge, from which we enjoyed our trial ride in Cannes.

From the first step onboard, Prestige X70 redefines space, light and luxury with an emphasis on hand-selected materials and exceptional fit and finish

Prestige X70 impressed us with maneuverability, especially at lower speed – thanks to the IPS – and ease of docking, again thanks to the IPS. The almighty system makes every maneuver as easy as possible, so even novices will have no trouble at the steering wheel. Designed to be a comfortable cruising yacht, Prestige X70 excels in every aspect related to ease of maneuvering and calm navigation, but we still find its steering the be prompt and responsive like it belonged on a sportier yacht.

Prestige X70 range

The hull climbed every wave we encountered instead of slicing through, even at maximum speed of around 29 knots. The unit we tested was powered by two Volvo Penta D13 engines (2 x 2000 hp) and two IPS 1350, and burned 236 liters of fuel per hour (for both engines). Although we spent most of our trial at cruising speed (20 knots), we found the new Prestige almost equally comfortable at maximum speed (29 knots).

Created in the spirit of a superyacht, the Prestige X70 offers infinite possibilities, blurring the line between the exterior and the interior

Every detail that distinguishes the new Prestige X70 from similar yachts makes this model an excellent first model in the series, introducing some fresh solutions into the catalog of the brand. We have no doubt we will see some of those solutions become the norm in the industry in the years to come.
