At the Cannes Yacht Salon in September 2025, Azimut Yachts presented their new Azimut 82 Fly, currently the largest model in the Fly line.

Alberto Mancini design aesthetic

The 24.79-meter long yacht was designed by Alberto Mancini, who has been shaping the brand's visual identity since 2018 and who has designed most of the models in the current Fly line-up.

The first element Azimut fans will recognize will be the bow, with a blunt top part and a sharp bottom part that continues underwater, ensuring buoyancy when breaking through waves, while the sharp underwater lines clearly indicate that this is a high-performance yacht. The sporty look is further enhanced by the superstructure moving farther aft, giving the hull an elongated, dynamic silhouette of a racing boat.

The hull is lined with two rows of rectangular windows, a departure from Azimut's classic oblong design, but still with recognizable gaps in bulwark. The superstructure wrapped in glazing, while the roof top stretches over the stern and ends with an elegant hard top with an antenna mast.

Innovative Deck2Deck system

We stepped aboard at the stern, onto a hydraulic platform whose central part can be lowered underwater, next to the teak-covered garage door. The door can be elevated and serve as a small aft terrace – the builder named this design Deck2Deck system, and the 82 Fly is the first model in the Fly line where it’s been implemented. The garage is large enough for a 3.9-meter tender

The cockpit is accessible via stairs from both sides, and holds a large folding table and two sofas, which make it perfect for socializing. To the left of the entrance, there is a small bar with a sink and refrigerator, which also hides an IPS docking station. Starboard, a uniquely designed semi-circular staircase leads to the flybridge, where the stern part is left free for moving elements like sofas and coffee tables.

Under the massive hard top, there is room enough for a large table seating eight and curved bar with a hidden electric grill, sink and refrigerators. On the flybridge bow, there is a sun pad, and behind it a minimalist external steering position with two seats and a protective windshield.

The helm station follows a minimalist design philosophy, featuring a compact console equipped with dual multifunction displays that provide all essential navigation data. The steering wheel is positioned for the port-side seat, while the throttles, IPS joystick, and VHF radio are intuitively grouped on a separate, slightly angled console specifically designed for effortless left-hand operation.

Visibility from the helm is superb. When underway, the windshield effectively deflects airflow, ensuring a comfortable, wind-protected environment for both the skipper and guests. While the flybridge is clearly conceived as the social hub for alfresco dining, the foredeck is dedicated entirely to sun-drenched relaxation.

The standout feature here is a spacious, triangular sunpad that rises above the main deck like a private island. Directly in front of the windscreen, a semi-circular sofa paired with a coffee table transforms the bow into a refined lounge area, perfect for socialising at anchor.

The main deck bow is dedicated to sun worshipping, with a triangular sun pad elevated like a private island, and in front of the windshield, a large and comfy C-shaped sofa and a small coffee table. The interior was designed by Fabio Fantolino and it seduces the eye with rounded, almost organic lines that create an airy, naturally relaxed atmosphere.

Right next to the door, on the left side there is an L-shaped sofa, while on the right side there two comfortable single armchairs. The furniture is bright and the salon has plenty of free space, which was achieved by minimizing the number of elements with the only goal of giving Azimut 82 Fly the layout of a superyacht

A corrugated glass partition separates the L-shaped galley and the interior command post. The galley is large enough for a huge refrigerator, an oven and a ceramic hob, while the command console is placed starboard and large enough for three multi-function displays. Next to the galley, there are the stair leading to a bow cabin, either a crew cabin or another guest cabin.

Four luxurious cabins

A semi-circular staircase from the salon leads to a winding corridor on the lower deck that connects the four guest cabins.

The master spans the full width of the hull and has a centrally placed double bed with the headboard facing the stern. On the starboard side, there is a small private salon with a sofa and a bookshelf, while the port side is a private study with a desk, as well as a vanity. Behind the headboard, there is enough space for a roomy wardrobe and an en-suite with two washbasins and a large shower.

In addition to the VIP cabin in the bow, in which the bed is placed diagonally along the side, with a window above the headboard, there are two more guest cabins. All cabins are served by en-suites and decorated in light colours, wenge wood furniture and luxurious satin leather details.

Performance at sea

Our early morning sea trial off in Cannes, we found the Azimut 82 Fly to be a stable, yet spirited yacht which excelled in turns. Powered by three 1000-hp Volvo Penta IPS 1350 engines, she achieved a cruising speed of 24.3 knots with a fuel consumption of 374 litres per hour, while our top speed during the test was 32.2 knots.

The combination of IPS propulsion and bow and stern thrusters made manoeuvring extremely precise, especially in smaller spaces in the port. The unit we tested was the first Azimut unit ever equipped with the WATCHIT Eye warning system which detects the risk of collision using radar data.

The new Azimut 82 Fly successfully combines style, space and performance, giving the feeling of a superyacht on mere 24 meters. The model clearly shows the evolution of the line towards greater elegance and technological sophistication, giving the builder top marks in every category.
