Sanlorenzo Delivers 74Steel Virtuosity: A Superyacht Designed Around a Living Tree
Sanlorenzo has launched the second hull of its 74 meter flagship series, Virtuosity. While built on the shipyard’s established 74Steel technical platform with diesel electric propulsion, the 1,860 GT vessel features a radically customized interior.
In a unique reversal of traditional naval architecture, the entire design of this superyacht was centered around a living Ficus Nitida tree, which was selected before the first structural block was even laid.
The project, featuring exterior lines by Zuccon International Project and interiors by Studio Paolo Ferrari, introduces several structural firsts for the Sanlorenzo:
- Vertical Arboretum: The central tree rises through a 16 square meter oval void, physically connecting the Main and Bridge decks. By making this the starting point of the build, Sanlorenzo integrated automated irrigation and environmental systems directly into the core structure.
- Submerged Aquarium: Located in the wellness area, a reinforced glazed section of the hull allows for direct views below the waterline.
- Expanded Ocean Resort: The beach club has been increased to 230 square meters, featuring a 28 square meter glass bottom pool and a DJ station.
The configuration focuses on specialized living zones and vertical connectivity. On the Sun Deck, a newly designed enclosed gym offers 360 degree glazing alongside a pool and informal dining area. The Owner’s Deck serves as a private retreat, featuring a 140 square meter suite, a reflecting pool on the foredeck, and a cinema lounge aft.
Below, the Bridge Deck centers on a 42 square meter winter garden veranda for formal dining and includes a touch and go helipad. The Main Deck houses a triple height lobby with a helical staircase, as well as three guest cabins and a secondary 80 square meter suite.
Finally, the Lower Deck is dedicated to wellness, containing a hammam, sauna, and cryotherapy room alongside the 'Aquarium' lounge and the expanded Sanlorenzo beach club.
