Azimut’s new series of hybrid yachts combines attractive design, technological innov ation and creativity, presenting several innovative solutions that contribute to reducing environmental impact

Azimut’s brand new Seadeck line

The annual Salone Nautico Venezia in May sparkled with several international debuts, and among them, the one everyone talked about was the latest Azimut Seadeck 6, the first in the brand new Seadeck line.

The latest Azimut Yachts model boasts a brand new hull, with a flat and tall bow, and a clear profile line descending all the way to the aft platform. This gives the profile a sophisticated and somewhat elliptical look, interrupted by a glazed black line which allows light into the interior. The superstructure is sporty, with aerodynamic lines and large side windows, protected by a golden roof that stretches half way above the aft cockpit.

Committed to a greener future, Azimut Seadeck 6 leads the way with innovative solutions that cut emissions by up to 40%.

The sharp bow and the wide hull make it clear the designers had one goal in mind: fuel efficiency, which, according to the builder, is 40 percent higher than on any competing model. In addition to lowering emissions, Azimut have used this model to showcase the results of their recycled materials research – 30 percent of the hull structure was built from recycled plastic bottles, and the teak deck is actually not teak, but eco-teak made from cork, bow to aft.

The aft platform is submersible, and has an integrated staircase allowing easy access to the sea.

The main deck is a step above the platform, and stretching on the same level aft to bow. The cockpit holds a comfortable sofa with a moving headrest, a folding dining table and a small bench. This outdoor dining room is protected by the superstructure roof, just like the adjacent folding side terraces, and is a large, comfortable, multi-purpose place ideal for seaside activities.

The side passages leading toward the bow are decent in width and well protected, and end at the second sunpad on the bow.

Azimut Seadeck 6 Interior

Inside, the main deck opens with a small galley, white and unassuming, with an induction stove, a sink and a large fridge, behind a light wood panel. Right next to the kitchen, there is a large L-shaped sofa, served by a coffee table that unfolds into a dining table. The interior is light, with light wooden flooring, white fabrics and a white ceiling, which work hand in hand with the glazing to create a bright and cozy atmosphere, but with a striped skylight protecting it from harsh light.

When it comes to cabins, they are all equally comfortable, with the VIP in the bow (a double), a twin guest cabin starboard, and the spacious master. The master is large enough to be on a much larger yacht, with a king-size bed, a large wardrobe and a private salon port-side. All cabins are light and airy, and perfectly suitable for longer cruising.

Azimut Seadeck 6 in Action

The bridge enjoys excellent visibility in all directions and the windshield is large, wide and single-panel. The command console holds two multi-functional Garmin displays, the IPS joystick, the autopilot, the bow propeller commands and the double throttle levers.

The new Azimut is powered by 3 x Volvo IPS 650 (3 x 480 hp), and also available with 380h p Volvo IPS 500. There is also one other joystick, in a dedicated space on the stern part of the superstructure.

Azimut Seadeck 6 proved to be super-stable in navigation even without the use of stabilizers or flaps, and even at maximum speed of 30 knots (279 l/h) with 10 passengers. Optimal cruising speed lies anywhere between 18 and 24 knots, allowing 290-mile range, while the most comfortable speed for easy-going owners is nine knots, with fuel consumption of only 28 l/h.

We’ve found the model swift and prompt to react, which both make it pure joy to pilot and ideal for owners who like to pilot themselves, but all the others will be happy to hear the model is also available with a skipper’s cabin.

Cruise Croatia in style: Azimut Yacht charters

Azimut Seadeck 6 is big on sustainability, with her 42 kWh batteries supplying up to eight hours of power for the AC and the stabilizers, for quiet and cool nights. This battery package is sort of a semi-step toward the full hybrid model Seadeck 7, to be launched later.

With their new Seadeck line, Azimut are demonstrating that their dedication to style and comfort can go hand in hand with sustainability.
