The new Ferretti 860 presents advanced design solutions geared toward beauty and comfort. This new flybridge model charms with the harmony between stylistic and architectural elements, extraordinary comfort with an emphasis on well-being, and optimization of all elements – all of that wrapped in a recognizable stile Italiano

The new flybridge model debuted in Cannes and is an evolution of the extremely popular Ferretti 850, sold in more than 40 units. The not-so-simple task of improving an already excellent yacht was given to the team that signs the new Ferretti models, so the new Ferretti Yachts 860 is the result of a collaboration between the strategic products committee chaired by Piero Ferrari and the engineering department of the Ferretti group, the design of the exterior lines come from the mind of Filippo Salvetti, and the interior design by Ideaitalia.

Even a cursory glance at the silhouette of the new model reveals a matching new style, defined by glass surfaces and side windows that give the hull a dynamic look. The most noticeable changes are astern: like the ‘mille’ model (Ferretti Yachts 1000), the new 860 has a glass wall above the transom, allowing unobstructed views of the sea while sitting in the cockpit.

Ferretti Yachts 860 layout

The table in the cockpit has a square shape and seats eight, and its style speaks of the design goal – visual connection of exterior and interior into one whole. This table is almost the same shape as the one indoors, in the dining room, the only difference between them being the material – the one in the cockpit is in teak, while the one in the salon in glass. The aft part has undergone the biggest changes, making sure the Williams Jet 395 and a two-seater jet ski fit in the garage.

This makes the new 860 the first yacht in her class in terms of garage capacity, and sea toys launch easily from the aft platform, which can be lowered underwater. Comfort, practicality, privacy and elegance define the entire aft section. The cockpit and platform create an uninterrupted space of over 30 square meters. The cockpit boasts new design and offers panoramic views.

The doors to the main salon can be fully opened, either electrically or manually, creating maximum continuity between the spacious, light-filled interior and exterior. The boldly designed interior is defined by flowing, harmonious lines, with several statement elements standing out against this background – the spiral staircase on the main deck that leads to the lower deck and around which the entire layout spreads, the free-standing furniture, and the clean lines inspired by art deco, which are the foundation of the sophisticated, but understated design.

We also liked the huge 75-inch TV on the floor to the left of the lounge. The versatile design of the interior allows the owner plenty of freedom in creating their own home environment. This mix of styles and trends is one of the distinguishing features of all new Ferretti Yachts models, in accordance with their new concept Just Like Home, which brings together comfort, Italian style, timeless design and craftsmanship.

Noteworthy is the evolution of style features, based on rich structural details and interior design elements. The main salon stretches over more than 27 square meters, taking advantage of the continuity between the exterior and interior spaces, with floor-to-ceiling windows on both sides of the hull and two possible layouts, with an open galley or with a partition separating it from the lobby. The unit we checked out in Cannes had a classic closed galley with a dedicated exit to the deck.

The Ferretti Yachts 860 is available in two color schemes, classic and contemporary: the first with darker and warmer colors and striking contrasts, and the second with paler and cooler colors, with tone-one-tone shades down to white. The dining room with a table for eight is served by a large sliding glass partition that opens port-side and allows natural light to fill the space. The galley is equipped with a glass-ceramic cooktop, a combined microwave oven, a 302-liter refrigerator and a 117-liter freezer, with the possibility of adding other appliances.

On the port side of the salon, a magnificent spiral staircase leads to the lower deck. Access area to the bow and the large wheelhouse follows the same style guidelines as the rest of the main deck interior and can be closed, guaranteeing privacy. The semi-elevated wheelhouse is thus separated from the guest area.

The crew has privacy, too, in the crew dinette with a sofa and a coffee table, along with two free-standing Poltrona Frau armchairs. The latest generation bridge features Simrad Command integrated control panel and a windshield with no central partition element, for perfect visibility in navigation. Crew quarters are located in the bow, and include two double cabins with private bathrooms.

Below deck, there are four double guest cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms. The master cabin boasts generous dimensions, stretching full-width, and reminds in every way, from style to solutions, to master cabins on super yachts, with ample storage space, including a dressing room and a master bathroom. The sound insulation solutions, designed to provide maximum comfort and privacy, are particularly interesting and innovative. As comfort was one of the most important tasks of the design team, many of their creative solutions also reduce vibrations and noise.

Finally, the third cabin below deck is also a large double VIP cabin with a side-facing bed. The exterior is no less impressive. The 11 square meter bow cockpit has the layout of a lounge, with a two-seat sofa facing forward, a central handrail for safety, built-in cup holders, a pull-back sofa that turns into a day bed, and an elegant teak table in the middle. An awning with carbon supports provides relief from the sun.

YACHT SUGGESTION

Iva

This Ferretti 960 model with her sophisticated, modern spacious interior, dining area with breathtaking panoramic views and amazing sunbathing platform is calling you to spend unforgettable experience on the sea.

The flybridge boasts 44 square meters of usable space, can be furnished with freestanding elements, and has room for a large multipurpose element holding all that’s necessary for preparing and serving meals. There is also space for a dining area seating up to eight, and – for the first time on a Ferretti Yachts vessel – an extra jacuzzi, astern. The two-tone hard top guarantees shade and privacy, and is available as fixed glass, opening glass, or glass with venetian blinds.

The first unit of the new Ferretti Yachts 860 is powered by a custom combo of two MAN V12 engines (2000 rpm), with which we achieved the highest speed of 30 knots, with a consumption of 789 liters. Cruising speed of 24 knots seems like a pleasant alternative (and uses up to 540 liters per hour), while in delivery mode at 10 knots the yacht needs only 65 liters per hour.

The standard version with two MAN V12 1800 HP engines achieves a cruising speed of 24 knots and a top speed of 28 knots (provisional data). On the list of extras there are Seakeeper stabilizers or Side Power/Sleipner Vector Fins – the unit we tested had Seakeeper 18.

The new Ferretti Yachts 860 might not be the fastest or the most efficient yacht on the market, but she’s definitely up there in terms of comfort in navigation. Overall, we are sure this new model will surpass the success of her quite popular predecessor.
