In 2002, the Esplanade entered a new phase as the hotel closed its doors followed by a complete renovation. Finding original designs and photographs greatly assisted the redesigning of the hotel which finally found the right balance between the Neoclassical and Art Deco style of the existing building and the introduction of modern elements appropriate to a luxury hotel at the beginning of the 21st century.
